Gamma Sigma Celebrates Golden Anniversary
By TRAV RUIZ
Gamma Sigma, No. V

1959. Minimum wage was $1.00.
Eisenhower was President and “The Twilight Zone” premiered.
What else happened?
Gamma Sigma was
formed. No matter the name of WT, West
Texas Teachers College, West Texas State University or West
Texas A&M University, one thing has continued to stand
strong; that’s Kappa Alpha Order at WT.
Hundreds have graduated from WT wearing the badge
and are now successful in their careers and personal lives.
Thousands of bonds have been formed and countless memories
have been made.
Through it all, KA at WT remains at the top as the
University’s most respected fraternity. Standing at the top,
the Gamma Sigma Chapter continues to be in the spotlight
with its extensive philanthropic efforts and award winning
endeavors. On homecoming weekend, many alumni, active
members and members awaiting initiation came together to
culminate the Golden Anniversary. A formal dinner topped the
weekend with alumni reminiscing on the past and enjoying
time with brothers past and present. Kappa Alpha Executive
Director Larry Wiese was also on hand to congratulate the
chapter on a successful 50 years. “Gamma Sigma
is what KA is all about,” said Wiese.

The active chapter is in need of audio-video equipment, specifically video projector, screen, DVD player and speakers. The estimated cost is around $2,000. Do we have any contacts in the business that might be able to help reduce that cost? If not, we will gladly accept donations to the cause.
I want to thank all those who helped and participated in this year’s 50th anniversary celebrations and a special thank you to Sharon Nix for her continued invaluable contributions and support.
